To blog or not to blog?

As a relatively new member to the society of 'blogging' I am still yet to form any real definite opinions on the subject.
Is social networking taking over as a form of communication?
As a society will we become less able to communicate or feel less confident of going out into the 'real' world and form relationships with people, or is it just a very efficient way of keeping in touch with friends and having a sphere to share thoughts and opinions with?
But then in order for opinions to be shared, they have to be read, I mean who am I actually writing this to?
These are just some of the thoughts that run through my mind whilst considering my views on this subject.

Well this is officially my first blog, yes I am a blogging virgin. It seems strange I really cannot think of any subject to express my opinions on as I usually have a lot to say.
I could start by telling you the reason for my new found blogging. I have just begun my MA in Public Relations at DMU and it will be a requirement of me to host my own blog as an assignment. I will be attending a workshop tomorrrow in fact on the very subject so hopefully my blogging will improve.
